Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor speaking, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran later left the business. Corcoran was a participant in 12 of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. Since February of 2020, she's signed 53 deals for the show, with the biggest one being $350,000 for 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran is the second child of 10 from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran's mother was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. Her family sometimes relied on free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father as one who often drank too much and treated her mother with disrespect and condescension, particularly after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran was struggling at school and discovered later that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was absent from several classes in her first year before transferring to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
