Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born October 20, 1964 was a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is also the first female vice president and the highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as well the first African American and second Asian American vice president. She is a senator and former senator from California. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General of California. She was reelected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017-2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election to become the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. She was a senator , and campaigned for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrant immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. She is well-known for her direct questioning of Trump government officials during Senate hearings.
